Tax it seems has to be taxing.. newbie filing 1st year company accounts. | 07/25/2014
(hopefully this is the best place to ask.. apologies if it's not)a
I've just had a letter through from HMRC asking me to file the Company Tax Return.
From a date in August through to a date in June.
Which is correct.
I've done very little business over the year (animation and app sales) so thought I'd battle it all quickly to get it done and dusted.
I logged in downloaded the necessary CT600 pdf form.
I changed necessary trust permissions in Adobe Acrobat and started...

Affiliate Network | 07/25/2014
Has anyone got any links to good online articles relating to setting up an affiliate network with local/national business?
I've never worked with an affiliate network before - not sure on how to approach to get the ball rolling, and how it works in terms of tracking affiliates.
Another point - I am aware of affiliate schemes online - but believe this is in essence an advert on our site point to someone else (or an advert on their site pointing to us). Although I am interested in...
False Advertising | 07/25/2014
One of my competitors has a comparison website (how impartial!) that is advertising my service incorrectly with the incorrect rates we charge.
Can they do this? What can I do?
I have just rang the company in question, and they denied having a sister site at first (although it clearly states on their sister site it is run by the company in question) and when I stated that they indeed do, then just told me to email a generic address.
Annoyed that they could possibly do this...
Can anyone recommend a business management software solution to support a Magento business? | 07/25/2014
I'm planning on upgrading our Magento site to the latest version. As part of this, I would like to integrate a solution that will support inventory management, financial management, etc.. Currently, I spend waaaay to long ordering stock across multiple suppliers. Not to mention needing to export reports and fiddle about on Excel far too much to get access to business info.
Any recommendations appreciated.

entertaining expenses | 07/25/2014
So I am off to breakfast to meet my accountant who has a real issue about my dining out receipts while entertaining. Do I:
A. Insist I pay for breakfast and put it in the receipt ?
B. Make him pay for breakfast ?
I prefer option b as its less cost involved but can't guarantee I will always be in a position to go this route.
Is my accountant being a prude or is it something hmrc frown upon even though my receipts are relative to business ?
Fraud Prevention For A Newbie Selling With Paypal and Stripe | 07/25/2014
Hi I'm wondering just what payment checks I can do to try and limit fraud. I'm unsure if its even possible to do any checks with Paypal and Stripe as my ways of taking payment.
Is there anyone here that could advise me on anything I could do to try and reduce the chance of being the victim of fraud.
